Matterform

Matterform is a Ventura-based instrumental groove band living at the intersection of deep pocket, cosmic improvisation, and late-night jazz harmony. Featuring Drew Espejo (drums), Javi Avila (keys/piano), Chet Toner (guitar & saxophone), Zach Manpearl (organ & bass), and Tony Pelosi (guitar), Matterform draws from jazz, funk, soul, afro-beat, hip-hop, and dance music to build immersive instrumental journeys. Psychedelic guitar leads, wailing sax lines and floaty piano which thread through lush jazz harmonies, swirling textures, and rhythm sections that stay deep in the pocket.
